Lipton Tea & Honey Review

I’ve mentioned before that I have a lot of trouble staying hydrated.  It’s not unlike me to have a cup of coffee in the morning, maybe a glass of water mid-day, and a few sips of milk at night.  So not healthy, right?  But one of my New Year’s Resolutions this year was to drink more, and I’m doing…okay.  If I keep a glass of water at my desk, I drink it.  But then I get lazy about refilling it so I wind up only drinking a few glasses.  Plus, water is BORING.

(Interesting side note, before I was pregnant with my son I went to an acupuncturist to help with fertility stuff.  He asked me if I prefer room temperature water or ice cold water (I guess that matters for some reason), and I remember telling him that I like my water cool, but not cold.  Then, when I got pregnant, I was all about freezing cold ice water, and haven’t looked back.  I can’t stomach room temperature water anymore.  Isn’t that weird that my tastes changed and stayed that way?)

Back to what I was saying about water being boring.  It’s just kinda…blah…drinking the same tasteless thing all day long.  And that’s where Lipton Tea & Honey comes in.  They sent me a few samples, and though I didn’t really care for the mango-pineapple flavor, the Black Tea with Lemon, and Blackberry Pomegranate rocked my world.

Let’s talk about the nuts and bolts here.  This tea is only 5 calories per 8 oz serving, and I’ll tell you that the packets are strong enough that I only use 1/3-1/4 of a packet for each glass.  Stretching our dollars here, folks.

The best part is that this drink mix isn’t made from a gazillion chemicals.  It’s sweetened with honey and uses real fruit flavors.  Nothing unpronounceable in the ingredients list.

So, has the tea worked with keeping me hydrated?  You bet!

  • This weekend we went to the pool and I filled up a large thermos with water and dumped a Lipton Tea & Honey packet in there.  I guzzled it.
  • A few days ago we played on the playground and I brought a HUGE cup of water with me, with the Blackberry Pomegranate mixed in.  My son came running up and wanted to share the “juice water” with me.  We both stayed cool, hydrated, and enjoyed ourselves.
  • All day long at work I have my big cup of (ice) water and each time I fill up, I put more mix in it and give it a good stir.
