Tastetastic Thursday #11 (and a review)

I usually go to the grocery store alone.  I like being able to take my time, pay attention to labels and prices, and have some alone time.  Sad, I know, that alone time is spent grocery shopping but I’ll take what I can get these days.

My son really enjoys going to the grocery store with me, though, so I take him every once in a while.  His favorite thing to do is run around the produce section naming all the fruits and vegetables he knows.  Last week I called out a name of a fruit or veggie, and he ran around trying to find it.  Like a little grocery store scavenger hunt.

I was given the opportunity to play a new game for kids called My Grocery List.  You choose a grocery list and a shopping cart card.  Then, you lay out the cards Memory-style.  As you pick up a card you see if the food on there matches any items on your list.  If so, you put it in your cart.  If not, you put the card back and it’s another player’s turn.

My husband and son played while I made dinner and they had a lot of fun.  My son loves Memory, and he’s fantastic at it, so this combined his love of the grocery store with that game.

Don’t let the goofy face fool you.  He gave it an enthusiastic “yes” when I asked if he liked the game.  It’s a great game for a kid his age (he just turned four), but I’m not certain a child much older than that would have fun.  I’d say it’s perfect for ages 2-5.   Click here for a list of stores that may carry this game (it’s new, so I’d call ahead first to make sure they have it).

And now…the main event.  The guidelines are simple:

  1. Please link up no more than two recipes.
  2. I’d love it if you’d follow me on Facebook and/or Google Friend Connect.
  3. Please have a link back to me on your post.  I’ll be featuring three links this weekend, but I can only feature you if there’s a link back.
  4. Click around, have some fun, and get inspired!
(As always, the links show up in random order.  No rewards for the early birds, or punishments for those who get there a little later.)

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of My Grocery List through my participation with Family Review Network. I have not been otherwise compensated and all opinions are my own.

I have a giveaway starting today for NuNaturals stevia products and a great recipe posted for low-carb homemade Thin Mints! I didn’t link up since it was a giveaway (some people don’t like that!), but would love for you too check it out!

Amy, My 29 year old son, who has no children, went grocery shopping with me and my grandson at age 3. My son wittily observed that shopping with a small child has the effect of lowering a person’s IQ! I have shared Hash Brown Potato Casserole and Bacon Ranch Dip. Thank you for hosting!
